....... the Biharis are a foreign people in Bangladesh, they came into Bangladesh, albeit may be not through their own free will, have betrayed Bangladesh and have to regain the trust of the Bengali people.To summarise, Pakistan's actions were, although not officialy, but for all practical purposes an act of Imperialism, whereas the Biharis have comitted an act of betrayal adn need to redeem themselves.

True, but you have to realise that these were a foreign people who have once already betrayed the trust of the majority Bengali population. In order to once again regain the trust of the bengali people, they must adopt bengali culture and language. What you said about the jamat is true, they ought to be punished severely, but every nation unfortunately have traitors. The Pakistani effort to "integrate" Bengali was a form of foreign imperielsim, but as I have mentioned......

Bangladeshi does not mean only Bengali language and culture, otherwise, Bangladesh should be renamed "Bengal."Bihari Muslims have their own rich cultural identity that should be cherished. From metal working to sari-making, their crafts are famous. Their Urdu language is a noble creation of the Mughal era-- a language that borrows heavily from Bengali, Arabic and Persian-- and has spawned the greatest literary works in South Asia on par with the poets, novelists and writers of Bengal.

Im afraid by "integrating" any people doesn't make them less likely to to rebel: Look at you own JAMMATI ISLAMIA of BD who are Native "Integrated" Bengalis, yet they committed massacres and rapes and still they want to return to the OLD DAYS ...Also Pakistani tried to "intergrate" the Bengalis, and that didn't work!!!Its unecessary to "integrate" people as they have thier own culture and Identity. You Educate:EDUCATE THEM ON EGALITARIAN PRINCIPLES OF FAIRNESS EQUALITY AND JUSTICE TO ALL

True and what you are saying is very enlightning indeed. However, you must take into consideration that these people have already betrayed Bangladesh and bengali people once. The only way to ensure their trust and that they can assure bengali people that they are trsutworthy is by integrating into bengali culture and becoming bengalis themselves.

saif: Why? - the same point is made by the British and Americans!Many thousand Bengalis here in the UK do not speak English nor do they have English Culture, yet they still have British Citizenship!
