I'm sure TGV engineers (or Germany's highspeed ICE) could build something that would break 620km/h. Get a long stretch of straight track, increase aerodynamics, and put even more powerful engines on with non-standard gearings. There'd be NO point in doing this though... air resistance is the SQUARE of speed, so this is ONLY to showoff. Building a faster train shouldn't be the focus. We need to focus on building a rail network to accomodate fast trains/making it cheaper. THAT is the challenge. |
