Why are we getting so worked up over the word Shaheed?!? Shaheed in Islamic terminology is he who dies in the cause of Allah...doesn't necessarily mean by fighting...could be spreading the message etc. According to Hadith, and from the actions of the Prophet SAW, one must have love for his mother land. And these officers were all in their positions due to their love of their motherland. And they died serving their motherland. So yeah...I dont see the problem in calling them Shaheed.

This is our bad luck.We are proud of our armed forces and BDR but some evil force didn't like it so they have to creat this to demorlize us.May ALLAH SWT have mercy on their souls.They are Shaheed,we salute them.If those culprits dont get judged in this life than Almighty ALLAH will judge them which everlasting and balant truth.

Yes Shaheed used to termed by islamic scholar for religiouse purposes only but rather than that some Muslim also regard as shaheed.Every (assassined)Mumin Muslim Is shaheed from the definition of hadith .if a Muslim being kiled while they are in duty or saving his/her life from a murder etc.
