This song is from "Rajkumari" & was composed by Panchamda (R.D.Burman) just a few months before Kati Patang's Music.

Ritwik, the Bengali version was created before, for a film called Rajkumari and its such irony that when the tunes were originally scored for Rajkumari (including E ki holo), the songs were virtually unnoticed. The slightly staccato phonetics of the Bengali lyrics probably didn't suit the flowing tune of the song but thats another story. Rajkumari came before Amar Prem. Pushan

Thank you so very much for the information you have given me ! I did not know Tanuja was from Maharashtra. I am from Romania (South East of Europe). Indian movies are shown here from time to time so I have got to love them ever since I was a child. Unfortunately, I have sen Tanuja in only one movie : Hathi Mere Sathi. :) I have read on line that she is sister of Nutan and mother of Kajol.

Ajbarish,I normally do not reply to comments, but this one caught my attention...Tanuja is actually from Maharastra, but she was in love with Bengal. Culturally, Maharastra and Bengal has been very close, especially in the world of cinema. This particular song was directed by R.D. Burman (a Bengali) and sung by Asha Bhosle (a Marathi and wife of Rahul Dev Burman). This song was recorded both in Hindi and Bengali by them, so difficult to say which is the original one.Where r u from?

Which version is the original? This one or the one from Kati Patang? Anyway, both of them are great. I am not Indian and I didn't know Tanuja acted in bengali films too. Is she from Bengal?
